How Camp Woodland celebrates Great Outdoors America Week!

img_5625June 24-June 28 is Great Outdoors America week, and lucky for us, we are all about nature at Camp Woodland!  We take many moments out of the day to enjoy nature – and here in the Beautiful North Woods, the wonder of nature is all around us. The girls in Farm Zoo take nature walks and learn about ecology. The riders take trail rides through the Climax Forest. Even in Arts and Crafts, the girls pick wildflowers to press and use in making bookmarks.

The whole camp takes two weeks of evening workshops to explore the nature around us, including a visit to the Moss Garden at Towering Pines and our very own Woodland Bog. All the campers get a chance to adventure through these amazing natural wonders that we here at camp are fortunate enough to have available right at our fingertips. Our Nature Night activities are so popular, they’ve even been featured in National Geographic magazine!

But even though we take special time to appreciate and experience nature, it truly would be impossible not to take in the amazing nature that surrounds us! Every moment here at Camp is set against our amazing backdrop of pine tress and blue skies, of sparkling Sand Lake and arching Birch trees. We eat our meals overlooking the gorgeous waterfront. We stand in assembly under a gorgeous canopy of lush green. Even the mundane is made remarkable merely by the fact that we get to live in this amazing landscape. At Camp Woodland, we make sure to take time out to appreciate nature – but even our time “in” is full of nature appreciation. How lucky are we at camp that Nature Week is something we get to celebrate all summer!

Be sure to stay tuned for more stories and pictures from our Nature evening workshops!
