Pack Tips #4 – Horseback Riding Gear

Posted by on June 18, 2012

Horseback riding is one of our campers’ favorite summer activities.  Our counselors provide instruction to children of all abilities (novice to advanced) and we provide riding helmets and crops for all participants.  All your camper needs is two pairs of jeans and one set of closed-toe boots with a heel (stored at the stable for convenience).  If your daughter is a veteran rider and prefers to use her own gear, feel free to bring it to camp.  After some well spent time in the saddle, your child will have the opportunity to demonstrate her improved horse riding skills in the Woodland Olympic games and summer horseback riding show!

Packing Tip #3 – Bedding

Posted by on June 17, 2012

We are closing in one week before camp begins and we just wanted to give a few more tips while you are busily working on packing your daughter for camp.

Our biggest recommendation is to send your daughter’s bedding ahead of time. Bedding can take up most of your car space and may get tight if you have more than one child going to camp. The counselors will make your daughter’s bed ahead of time, so when she is arrives at camp she will have comfort on seeing her things already on her bed.  It instantly make the cabin feel very cozy too!

The weather is always changing at camp.  Therefore, great bedding items to help with the colder and warmer temperatures are the following:

  • 1 pillows with pillow cases
  • Mattress pad
  • 3 warm blankets
  • 2 bed sheet sets
  • One favorite stuffed animal

Good luck!!!

Packing Tip #2 – Woodland Wear

Posted by on June 14, 2012

“How many camp T-shirts do I really need to buy for my child for camp???” is a frequent question that I hear.

On the camp packing list, it may look like you may have to buy a lot of camp gear.  Camp clothing is never out of style (see our proud Alumni) and often becomes the most favorite item’s in your camper’s wardrobe. However, you may be relieved to hear that one Camp Woodland T-shirt & one Woodland Jacket will meet your camper’s summer dress needs.

At camp every Sunday, we show our camp spirit by wearing our Woodland wear.  There are also special events where each cabin shows their pride and unity via Woodland attire.

Buying a camp jacket is a great investment for enjoying cooler Wisconsin evenings.   It’s also a great way to show off a camper’s progress, with all the badges she’s earned each summer.  I recommend that you to buy their jacket big, so they can wear it for a couple of summers!!

So while you can never have too much Camp Woodland clothing, your camper will be very happy with these two basic essentials (T-Shirt & Jacket).
