Passing Levels at Archery and Riflery!

We had a great day at Archery and Riflery today!  New campers are starting to get the hang of shooting, and the old campers are  remembering that old feeling of hitting the target.  Check out who passed levels in both Riflery and Archery:

  • Allie passed her White Boeman in Archery (10 yards from the target, first level)
  • Taylor H. passed her White Yoeman in Archery (10 yards from the target, second level)
  • Natalie S. passed both her Black Yoeman and and Boeman in Archery (20 yards from target, first and second level)
  • Amelia D. passed her white Boeman in Archery (10 yards from target first level)
  • In Riflery Amelia K, Jenna K, Natalie S, Victoria, and Sofia G  all passed Pro-marksman

Way to go girls!!

Camp Woodland Achievements

Everyday at Evening Assembly we announce any achievements that happened during the day.  These achievements may include passing a level, accomplishing a new skill, or a camper just trying something they thought they could never do.  I get goosebumps every time I see a girl glow when a counselor announces their names during evening assembly and the other girls cheer for her.  So everyday we will give you a little peak on daily achievements. Enjoy!

Natalie S passed  her white Yoeman, Boeman, and Archer in archery. All white levels shoot 10 yards from the target and then they pass levels as they get more precise. Natalie’s instructors say she is a natural!

Sydney S passed her black Yoeman (first level) in Archery. All black levels shoot 20 yards from the target.

Ana Paula G.  shot 3 bullesyes in Riflery.  Way to go Ana Pau!

On the Shores of Sand Lake

DSC05833Activities have started and the shores of Sand Lake exploded into a colorful flurry of activity at the waterfront. Some girls jumped right in the water with noodles and played on the blue mat. Other girls opted to participate in some enthusiastic beach volleyball matches. Whether in the lake or on the shore, the waterfront experienced a great summer kick-off, with laughter that echoed across the lake. Now that the campers are settled in for another great summer, they can look forward to heading down to the beach for swimming lessons, water skiing, tubing and sailing. It’s sure to be another fantastic six weeks on the shores of Sand Lake!

Ready, Set, Sunday!

As the skies above Camp Woodland cleared of Woodland Dew, all of Camp set out to have a wonderful first Sunday! In the morning, the girls got a taste (or a reminder!) of what activities are like as we went through our Activity Rotations. Spending a small amount of time in each activity area, campers were able to experience and learn about each different activity – and counselors were able to show off their stuff!

In the afternoon, the CITs put on a very special Sunday event: Find Snow White! Each cabin moved from princess to princess collecting clues and participating in fun princess-themed activities like relay races, Princess charades, and making Pocahontas marker tattoos! In the end, Sunnyside, Sunrise and Tamarack worked together to find and rescue Snow White.

After all that adventuring, everyone was ready for a cool-down… just in time for afternoon Rec Swim! The Big Banana was ready and the lake was refreshing, and the waterfront was the perfect end to a fun-filled day! To wrap it all up, we spent the evening . What a great start to the summer!

We Welcome You to Camp Woodland!

We’re mighty glad you’re here!! We are so excited the campers are finally here after a wonderful week of getting the camp ready! The horses are grazing in the field, the docks are in, and the cabins are sparkling. A little woodland dew in the morning didn’t hold us back. Here is just a short list of all the fun activities your campers did today!

  • Played Beach Volley Ball
  • Created Sand Castles at the Beach
  • Swam in the lake  (yes, it was plenty warm to swim!)
  • Played many Field Games – buddy tag, parachute, hog call (weird name, lots of fun!) and much more!
  • Created a Cabin Cheer!
  • Sang Camp Songs after dinner (we love to sing at camp!)

After so much activity the girls were famished and were treated with Dan’s famous Mac and Cheese for lunch and homemade pizza for dinner!  Mmmm….Mmmm….good!

The international campers just arrived, so our camp family is ready for another fantastic day tomorrow ! We are signing off for now but will write more tomorrow.
